Details
he Tsukuba Michi road was created in 1626 by order of the 3rd Tokugawa Shogun
Iemitsu. The road starts from Hojo town and leads to Tsukuba shrine.
Every year on April 1st and November 1st, the annual festival of Tsukuba-san
Shrine, known as the “Seat Change Ceremony (Ozagawari-sai),” takes place. It
is said that the parents and child gods change seats between the main shrine
hall at the summit and the worship hall halfway up the mountain. We will be
able to see the traditional parade for that.
Also, Tsukuba Sanroku Autumn Festival will be held along the road as well. It
will a good opportunity to discover the charms of the village at the foot of
Mt. Tsukuba.
We will start walking from the Hojo Shopping District Shared Parking Lot at
9:45am.
